Dental Emergency

Our emergency dentist sessions provide temporary relief from your urgent dental problem. You may be recalled for definitive treatment at a later visit.

Clark House Dental recognises an emergency as being one or more of the following:

  • pain unresponsive to painkillers

  • persistent bleeding

  • infection or swelling especially if accompanied by an elevated temperature or breathing difficulty

  • trauma or accident

  • breakage/loss of a front tooth or restoration

Emergency dentist sessions are restricted to our registered active clients*.

* Registered active clients are those who have had a Dental Checkup with us in the last 24 months.

During service hours (Mon–Fri, 9–5)

Call us on 01752 664918

We endeavour to provide registered active clients with an emergency same day appointment if possible. We advise calling us at 9am, so we could secure this for you.

Where there is no duty dentist during service hours (training, illness, holiday etc.), we will bring you back on the first day when the dentist is available next (if it is an emergency as defined above).

Out of Hours

Call us on 01752 664918

If it is a dental emergency out-of-hours, please leave a brief message with your name and contact telephone number. We will return your call on our next working day. In the meantime, you can also refer to our Dental Emergency Guide to help you manage the problem at home until we can see you at the practice.

In case of a dental emergency that cannot wait until we reopen, please contact NHS 111. If it is a life-threatening emergency (persistent profuse bleeding, swelling causing breathing difficulties, sepsis etc.), please contact 999 or the Accident & Emergency department at the Derriford Hospital.

Our DPAS plan members may also contact the DPAS emergency helpline on 0808 169 8117 for emergency temporary treatment. Section 2 (Dental Emergency) on the DPAS Handbook has more information on what is covered.
